Tuesday, March 16, 2010. Edgewater Masters 2010 Racing Season Underway. Our Edgewater Masters made their mark in the world of Florida Masters rowing this weekend with their performance at the OARS Invitational Masters Regatta held Sunday. After a long day Saturday at the site supporting our student athletes, they returned for another full day of events of their own. Equally important, this could not be possible without the students who helped out on race day! In Masters rowing, age handicaps are used bas.
Edgewater Crew stands proud among the first programs that established competitive rowing for high school students in Florida. Since our founding 54 years ago by EHS teacher Dennis Kamrad, we have trained athletes to lead their peers both on and off the water compiling a long tradition of excellence in rowing, scholarship and citizenship. Rowing operates as a club sport at the high school level; therefore our team gets no dedicated funding from the state, county or school. There is a financial obligat.
